Christmas Break!

It's finally the countdown of two weeks until christmas break- well a little less considering I'll be home early on Friday. I am so ready for break and for finals to be over. These next two weeks up until winter break are going to be stressful and I can't wait to be at home with no studying for finals or homework to worry about over brea just stress-free and all holiday related. Christmas is my favorite season, and I love the holidays. Christmas and Thanksgiving are my two favorite holidays. I get super excited around the Christmas season and I'm sure everyone does. The only thing that sucks is the cold weather where you just want to wear your snowsuit to class. Although, it wouldn't be Christmas without snow, so I guess that is okay if it's cold, but after Christmas... no more snow please. Aside from the weather, I love everything about Christmas, the family, the music, the christmas shopping, the decorating, it's all so exciting. What's even better about break this year is that we have entire month off with nothing to worry about!!

Thanksgiving/Christmas Break

The past week we had off was for Thanksgiving Break. It was so great to be back home and in my own bed for a week straight. We had all of our family up at our house for dinner on Thanksgiving, and we had our traditional football game that morning, the "Turkey Bowl," which is always a lot of fun. Of course on Black Friday we went our shopping which was successful, but crowded. I wish we could have had even longer of a break because I didn't even want to come back to Muncie so soon. However, we only have three more weeks until our christmas break begins, and almost two of those weeks re for final exams. Christmas break is an entire month off, and I couldn't be any happier, it couldn't come fast enough. I'll probably go back and work and make more money for Christmas, and hang out with my family. I can't wait for all my finals to be over so I have a month long break with no worries! I'm already ready for our next break, it couldn't come any faster!

Weather

This weather is starting to get pretty unpredictable. I never know if i Should bring my jacket to class, or bundle up a lot, or just wear a sweatshirt. The weather needs to make up its mind, it's November. Two weekends ago it was snowing, and that entire next week it was like laying-out weather, and I didn't even need a jacket. Now this week, it's freezing again. It's hard to tell what is always going to come, if it's going to be warm or freezing. I don't understand why it's not so stable as it should be. The warm weather is nice, but it's November, it should be much colder than it was last week, I'm just hoping he weather starts to become more stable, then maybe our dorm rooms won't be so hot!

To Write Love On Her Arms

The other night, my friends and I went to a major guest speaker on campus who was really, really good. It was the guy who does To Write Love on Her Arms. It's about writing love on your arms to remind you that you are loved and cared for when dealing with depression, suicidal tendencies, and drug related/other issues. They started a universal program, and have appeared as guest stars on many shows including the hit MTV's The Buried Life. They have appeared on talk shows and have their own myspace which started the whole program. One guy started this myspace to help this girl named Renee who was dealing with drugs and depression majorly. He helped her get through her problems and to a rehab facility. Soon after Renee's story, many other people found this myspace website and started to write their own stories on it. The stories and complications he told us were just amazing and inspiring. The overall performance was great and I really enjoyed what he had to say. They also had a singer who sings for them and their program. His songs and voice were really great and they all together really got the crowd motivated. I hope they have more major speakers on campus, I've been to two and they were both worth my time and very fun!

Research Paper Reflection

The research paper I've been writing has really made me think about the kinds of animal cruelty that goes on in our world today. The lab testing is taken to another level. After reading some of the facts about it, I was shocked at how you could even feel good about yourself after putting any animal through that kind of pain. I put even more on my disagreement towards lab testing of animals. Animals should be treated like human beings, and have free rights just as we do, after all that is what God intended them for. I already stood by the fact that animal testing should be banned. Now i'm just even more against it after hearing some of the horrible things I heard. Maybe dogs can't speak up and say no like human beings, but they do have feelings and emotions. They feel the same pain we do if we were to be tested on. How would you feel being taken out of your natural habitat and taken to some lab to be tested on and then killed shortly after? These things do happen and animal testing is starting to get out of hand.

Halloween!

I am looking very forward to my third favorite holiday, Halloween. Halloween is not my first or second  favorite but it is in my top five. My roommate and I are very excited to receive our costumes in the mail. They're supposed to be coming on Friday. We're dressing up in the same costume as our three other friends that go here. We can't tell anyone our costume because it's a secret. But its going to really nice to wear when it's cold out and also it will be fun to walk around in, (probably pretty hard to walk in also!) We can't wait and were looking very forward to this holiday on Sunday! We were also wanting to wear our costumes around all weekend, Friday, Saturday, and of course Sunday. I'm just happy we were all able to order the same thing. We had a lot of problems where the order would get cancelled because it kept going out of stock, apparently these costumes are more popular than we thought. It was a good deal for a costume which is probably another reason why a lot of people were buying it. This is going to be a good Halloween, I can't wait till I get my costume!! :)

Animal Testing Research Paper

Our research paper is over animal cruelty. Animal lab testing and performed experiments and dog fighting we have heard about. We believe all acts of animal cruelty should be banned. Animal cruelty is obviously not right and there should be something done about it. Our big question is if humans can't be treated this way then why should animals? Dogs are the number one source of animal cruelty with cats second. I'm not even a big animal person like my roommate is but I know that animal cruelty is wrong and should be banned. People still continue to perform tasks on animals because they know that the animals have no say in it where as humans can have a speak up and have a say. Either way, both humans and animals can be inflicted with pain. Therefore, animal cruelty should be banned from all people and it is unfair to animals.

Midterm Week

Last week was a struggle to get all my work done, somehow I managed. I had a history paper due, a history test, and I had a psychology exam. These weren't just any exams, they were the midterm exams. My psychology exam was 48 essay questions. I've never felt so overwhelmed in my life. I ended up getting through it but not being able to go out with my friends, I also wasn't able to participate in many social activities which sucked but I figure I did pretty well on everything and used my time right so it got done. I'm just happy that this week I don't have anything to study for. However, next week I have two exams so it's back to the books. Maybe so it's not so stressful, I'll study for one test this week, and the other next week that way it's not such a struggle to get everything done in one week, because in my English class I also have a research paper due that I have to work on. I am so ready for next semester already!

Family

This coming weekend I am so excited because I get to go home and see all my family that I haven't seen in years! All of my family is from California and they're all coming down to surprise my mom for her birthday. I love visiting them there, and I really miss it. I wish we still lived there with everyone. I'm also somewhat excited to be back at home. I like being here at Ball State, but I also really like just going home to Carmel and sleeping in my own bed and being with all my family, and best of al having my car back. This weekend should be fun and very memorable and I'm very excited to see everybody finally! I'm ready to go back home.

Open Letter Statement

1. I was influenced to write an open letter to Michael Jackson because he is my favorite singer, and I feel very strongly about how much better he looked before he bleached his skin.

2. Michael Jackson was a phenomenal singer and dancer but believed he didn't fit in, I wanted to write him a letter to prove him wrong.

3. Michael Jackson, all though he is dead, I would have liked a response explaining as to why he believed he didn't fit in. He was truly a  stand-out in the music industry and was so great at what he did, I feel he should know that so my letter will be addressed to Michael Jackson giving advice, and explaining to him that he is so much better than he believed he was.

Being Sick

A lot of people I know have been getting sick lately, including myself stuck with strep. My roommate has been sick for about two weeks and now I am. Our friends across the hall have also been sick the past couple weeks, I guess I was just the last to get it. I feel like the out hall should do a much better job on keeping the halls and bathroom sanitary. The bathrooms could be much cleaner as well as the halls. The dorm room is you and your roommates job to clean up not the janitors. There is no such thing as maid service here. A good reason a lot of students are getting sick could be because of the dust collection in the rooms. It doesn't help when the fans are blowing the dust around either from room to room. Any way, I think we should do a better job of keeping out halls and bathroom clean to prevent from getting sick, and for just better sanitation.

Final Draft Responses

I wrote about Thanksgiving and the fall season that is coming up. I was called on to write because of the weather outside. There were leaves blowing, and the air was cool and crisp and I was wearing jeans and a sweatshirt. It was so nice not to be able to walk to class sweating because of the heat. I established my purpose in great detail about the fall season and whats to come during the seasons, ( the holidays and such). I wanted to have the readers to get an imagination of how they connect to their favorite memories and season, and past childhood. Everyone has a season and environment that relates them to a favorite memory of theirs. I discussed my ideas with my roommate and our friend across the hall and we reminisced about walking to class with a Star bucks cup in one hand, and our leggings and sweaters and boots. When the weather is cool and nice to walk to class to, and there's leaves everywhere. Just the atmosphere is what gets me excited.

The writing hardly took me long to think of at all. I came up with lots of ideas right away without hardly any hesitation. Once you get me started talking on something I love, I could go on forever in great detail without much brainstorming.

Before my rough draft, I made an outline discussing all the things I love about Fall and I made my rough draft off of that. It was pretty easy to follow, and simple to come up with the ideas and memories.

I received some feedback on to much random detail. I immediately fixed that and made my paper more organized and explained my entire day of Thanksgiving instead of jumping around with random Fall facts. I edited and proofread the final draft and was pleased with how much better my final draft sounded. It was so much more organized.

One of our best friends stayed with us Friday till Sunday of this weekend, and a lot of or other friends we visited when they came up to visit other friends, but we did see them and hang out with them. We had a lot of fun, and went a lot of places. I hope next weekend is just as much fun as this weekend was! Fall Season

Finally, after this extremely hot summer we've been having, it's about time for some cooler weather. I love Fall, it's my favorite season. The weather, the holiday season, and all the breaks we get! I love the football season and of course Thanksgiving and seeing all my family. It's time to take out the jeans and sweatshirts, finally our dorm rooms won't be so hot and we won't have to sleep huddled up next to a fan anymore. Summer is great in the beginning because school is out and you have no worries! Hanging out with your friends and being by the pool is your main priority. After awhile, the hot heat gets old, especially when you're walking to class and it makes you sweat. It can get pretty uncomfortable in so many situations. I'm excited for Fall break and Thanksgiving break! I'll get to see all my family that I miss, it's the only time a year when I can see all my family that comes down, and all our old neighbors that we play football with every Thanksgiving. I love everything about Fall and I can't wait for summer to over and Fall to start up! :)

This Weekend

This weekend should be a fun weekend. Not only because it is labor day weekend, but I have a lot of fun things to do. First, on Friday I'm going to IU with a couple of my friends from Ball State to see all of my other friends who went to IU! It should be a fun time! I'm coming home Saturday morning to my family, and my aunt and uncle to go to lunch at Scotties. I'm really excited to see my family! Other than homework and tests after that, my night will pretty much consist of hanging out with my friends and being social. We have a long weekend and best of all we have no classes on Monday! I can finally catch up on how much school work I have, considering I am way behind. I can't wait for the weekend!
