Thanksgiving/Christmas Break

The past week we had off was for Thanksgiving Break. It was so great to be back home and in my own bed for a week straight. We had all of our family up at our house for dinner on Thanksgiving, and we had our traditional football game that morning, the "Turkey Bowl," which is always a lot of fun. Of course on Black Friday we went our shopping which was successful, but crowded. I wish we could have had even longer of a break because I didn't even want to come back to Muncie so soon. However, we only have three more weeks until our christmas break begins, and almost two of those weeks re for final exams. Christmas break is an entire month off, and I couldn't be any happier, it couldn't come fast enough. I'll probably go back and work and make more money for Christmas, and hang out with my family. I can't wait for all my finals to be over so I have a month long break with no worries! I'm already ready for our next break, it couldn't come any faster!

Weather

This weather is starting to get pretty unpredictable. I never know if i Should bring my jacket to class, or bundle up a lot, or just wear a sweatshirt. The weather needs to make up its mind, it's November. Two weekends ago it was snowing, and that entire next week it was like laying-out weather, and I didn't even need a jacket. Now this week, it's freezing again. It's hard to tell what is always going to come, if it's going to be warm or freezing. I don't understand why it's not so stable as it should be. The warm weather is nice, but it's November, it should be much colder than it was last week, I'm just hoping he weather starts to become more stable, then maybe our dorm rooms won't be so hot!

To Write Love On Her Arms

The other night, my friends and I went to a major guest speaker on campus who was really, really good. It was the guy who does To Write Love on Her Arms. It's about writing love on your arms to remind you that you are loved and cared for when dealing with depression, suicidal tendencies, and drug related/other issues. They started a universal program, and have appeared as guest stars on many shows including the hit MTV's The Buried Life. They have appeared on talk shows and have their own myspace which started the whole program. One guy started this myspace to help this girl named Renee who was dealing with drugs and depression majorly. He helped her get through her problems and to a rehab facility. Soon after Renee's story, many other people found this myspace website and started to write their own stories on it. The stories and complications he told us were just amazing and inspiring. The overall performance was great and I really enjoyed what he had to say. They also had a singer who sings for them and their program. His songs and voice were really great and they all together really got the crowd motivated. I hope they have more major speakers on campus, I've been to two and they were both worth my time and very fun!

Research Paper Reflection

The research paper I've been writing has really made me think about the kinds of animal cruelty that goes on in our world today. The lab testing is taken to another level. After reading some of the facts about it, I was shocked at how you could even feel good about yourself after putting any animal through that kind of pain. I put even more on my disagreement towards lab testing of animals. Animals should be treated like human beings, and have free rights just as we do, after all that is what God intended them for. I already stood by the fact that animal testing should be banned. Now i'm just even more against it after hearing some of the horrible things I heard. Maybe dogs can't speak up and say no like human beings, but they do have feelings and emotions. They feel the same pain we do if we were to be tested on. How would you feel being taken out of your natural habitat and taken to some lab to be tested on and then killed shortly after? These things do happen and animal testing is starting to get out of hand.
